Recommendations for the Latest Indonesian Horror Films for 2023

It seems that the most recent Indonesian horror films have already been released and will be released in 2023. One of them, Alena the Child of the Devil Queen, which has been showing in theaters since January 5, 2023. Not only that, various other titles are joining the world of Indonesian horror films in 2023. 1. Alena, the daughter of the Devil Queen

Alena Anak Ratu Setan is an Indonesian horror film starring Ciara Brosnan, Ririn Ekawati, Karenina, Wulan Guritno and Temmy Rahadi. This horror film tells the story of Alena (Ciara Brosnan), a child born from the womb of the Devil queen who is found and adopted by a husband and wife. The demon queen’s child was born into the world with the aim of destroying all of humanity.

2. Poetry of Love that Kills

Poetry of Love that Kills is an Indonesian horror film starring Mawar Eva de Jongh, Baskara Mahendra, Morgan Oey, and Ayu Laksmi. This film tells the story of Ranum, a woman who is easily captivated by the beautiful seduction of men. But strangely, the people who approach him and even himself are forever terrorized by a mysterious figure who inevitably ends in death.

3. Guidance

Hidayah is an Indonesian horror film starring Ajil Ditto, Alif Joerg, and Givina Lukita as the main characters. Hidayah tells the story of a young Ustaz named Bahri (Ajil Ditto) returning to Mekarwangi Village to deal with the problem of a supernatural figure that is haunting the village. The interference from this supernatural figure is thought to have come from Ratna (Givina Lukita), an old colleague of the Ustaz who suffers from a mysterious illness.

4. Satan’s Entrusted Child

Anak Entrusted by Satan is an Indonesian horror film starring Gisella Anastasia and Ingrid Widjanarko as the main characters. This film tells the story of the Jaran Penoleh pesugihan ritual performed by a member of the family and the victim of a child who will have a catastrophe. Apparently, the film, which was directed and produced by Erwin Arnada, has been showing in theaters since January 12, 2023.

5. Mangkujiwo 2

Mangkujiwo 2 is an Indonesian horror film starring Yasamin Jasem, Sujiwo Tejo, Kiki Narendra, and Widika Sidmore which will be released in theaters on January 26, 2023. This film is a sequel to the previous film, Mangkujiwo which was released in 2020. Mangkujiwo 2 focuses on the mystery of Tjokro Kusumo’s death and Brotoseno’s revenge attempt to revive the kuntilanak.
